4 | WATERLINE April 2026 "Marinas26 will be the biggest and best yet." CEO UPDATE April 2026 I have mixed feelings as I write this. I am saddened by the conflict that is impacting our friends in the Middle East and hope that by the time this is published that it has settled down and my feelings now redundant. I am sure I speak for all MIA members when I say that our thoughts and wishes are with all our members in the region, their friends, families and country men and women. We were hoping to catch up with many of them at Marinas26 and even if they are unable to make it over due to travel concerns, I hope we can still hear from them remotely, and that we have the opportunity to provide our support to you all. Marinas26 is shaping up to our biggest event yet. The exhibition is sold out and there is a diverse range of exhibitors coming along. We have made an effort to reach out to businesses to exhibit products and services that you may not have seen exhibiting at our events before. You can see a full list of the exhibitors on page 14. The conference line up is awesome and the full program along with featured speaker profiles are in the pages that follow, so I won’t repeat that now, but what I will say, is that the program is completely focussed on marina topics and issues. You will not hear this content at any other event, and we are proud to be able to bring you such focussed and valuable insights from professional, industry people. The networking program is comprehensive and will be a lot of fun. In addition to our regular extended breaks to meet with exhibitors, delegates will be welcomed on Sunday evening by Pelagic Risk Services at a Miami-Style Cocktail Party held poolside. Our very popular North Harbour Happy Hour will again return and we will incorporate our structured networking during that event to mix everyone up early on. If you’re up and about bright and early and wish to get some air in your lungs before we commence day 2, you can breathe and stretch at the Sanctuary Cove Yoga Class or join Lily and Chris on the Marina Training Institute guided Walk n Talk Club. You’ll have then earned the right (or not) to enjoy a Bacon & Egg Roll at the Waterline Breakfast with Exhibitors, before the program kicks off. The day will conclude with the Marine Structures Tropical Gala Dinner, and I believe the team have some fun activities to add to the event this year. If you are still going, the After Party will be on in the Red Dog Bar. Personally, I think that some of the best networking is done on the Study Tours where everyone is a little more relaxed and have time for a chat on the bus or a stroll through the marina sites. A shout out to our sponsors. The MIA now has 27 industry partners and sponsors who make further financial investments in the MIA to ensure we can continue to deliver the services to members that we do, without additional call on members. Please recognise their commitment to industry and consider them when you are making procurement decisions. Since the beginning of the year, we have welcomed three new sponsors. Pelagic Risk Services increased its commitment from Silver to Gold Sponsorship of the MIA. Pelagic is an insurance broker and risk specialist and have many new exclusive MIA member benefits on the way which they will launch at Marinas26. Harbour Assist, a marina management software company has re-joined the sponsorship ranks taking up Silver Sponsorship and Inspectahire, a visual inspection specialist is now a Bronze Sponsor. Marinas26 also has a further 18 Conference Sponsors, many of whom are also MIA sponsors. We have two Media Partners this year. Marine Business News is our local media partner and Marina World is our international media partner and both will be on hand to cover the event. Speaking of great media publications, I would like to comment on this being our biggest Waterline ever at 52 pages. Waterline has evolved in recent years to become a far more technical and informative publication. Our new office is decorated with nearly 100 framed copies of Waterline Magazine since it was first published back in 2006 - it is wonderful to be creating a history for our Association. You are welcome any time to pop in to our new office in Mona Vale, to say hello, get some work done between appointments, or see if you can spot your ‘younger self’ on any of the Waterline covers – some of you are definitely featured and you all look as good now as you did then . Looking forward to seeing you at Marinas26. Suzanne Constant and Automatic Line Adjustment with our Incredibly Strong Pile Rings www.marinaquip.com

GIHAN PERERA AI FUTURE IN MARINAS & BOATYARDS - KEYNOTE DAY 1 Gihan Perera will explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping operations, customer experience, asset management and workforce capability across the global marina sector - challenging operators to think beyond automation and toward strategic transformation. Gihan Perera is a business futurist, conference speaker, AI researcher, and author who shows you how to be fit for the future in a fast-changing world. For more than 30 years, he has worked with organisations and leaders throughout Australia and the world, helping them to lead in uncertainty and act with clarity and confidence. He was recognised as one of the Top 30 Global Futurists in 2025. Gihan is the author of Disrupted, Disruption by Design, The Future of Leadership, and ten other books. Through his keynote presentations, interactive masterclasses, and in-depth leadership programs, he shares future trends and thought-provoking insights – delivered with interaction, engagement, and humour – that leave people feeling positive, empowered, and optimistic about their future. Forbes magazine rated him the #5 social media influencer in the world (and #1 in Australia) in his area of expertise. MARK RICHARDS LINE HONOURS – LEADERSHIP, INNOVATION & SUCCESS - KEYNOTE DAY 2 Renowned maritime leader, boatbuilder and ocean racing legend Mark Richards shares unique insights from decades of leadership in marine design, innovation and competitive sailing — and how marinas need to evolve to deliver the best services to future boaters. Mark will inspire and challenge as he provides unique insights drawn from decades of leadership in marine design, innovation and competitive sailing on how marinas need to evolve to deliver the best services and facilities to future boaters. One of Australia’s most accomplished ocean-racing sailors, a highly respected boatbuilder and marine industry leader, Mark is Founder and CEO of Palm Beach Motor Yachts and the long-time skipper of the legendary 100-foot maxi Wild Oats, now reborn under his ownership as Palm Beach XI. His sailing journey began at age six in Newport on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, racing Manly Junior dinghies before progressing rapidly through competitive sailing. By his early teens, he was working as a dock attendant at the Royal Motor Yacht Club on Pittwater, driving the club tender, berthing member vessels, pumping fuel and supporting dayto-day marina operations. Those formative years provided practical seamanship, strong boat-handling skills and a firsthand understanding of how marinas and boatyards function. After commencing a boatbuilding apprenticeship at Sydney Technical College, Richards combined hands-on craftsmanship with elite sailing, launching a professional racing career that included two America’s Cup campaigns, World Match Racing victories, an Admiral’s Cup win, and unparalleled offshore success. As skipper of Wild Oats XI, he led the yacht to nine Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race line-honours victories, establishing one of the most dominant records in offshore sailing history. In 1995, Richards founded Palm Beach Motor Yachts, applying race-derived thinking to powerboat design: lightweight construction, structural efficiency, balance and performance without compromise. What began as a small Australian boatbuilding operation has grown into a globally recognised luxury motor yacht brand, now operating as part of Grand Banks Yachts, with Richards serving as CEO, chief designer and a major shareholder. Today, Richards leads an international yacht-building group spanning advanced manufacturing, design and owner services, while continuing to campaign Palm Beach XI as both owner and skipper. Reflecting his deep operational roots in marinas, the group has recently acquired Casey’s Marina at Spring Wharf in Newport, the historic heart of American sailing and a former America’s Cup venue. To be reimagined as the Grand Banks and Palm Beach Motor Yachts Marina, the facility will offer reserved berths, haul-out and service capabilities, and private owner amenities, making the company the only yacht builder to own and operate a brand-specific marina in Newport Harbor. Whether on the racecourse, in the shipyard or on the waterfront, Richards remains focused on one objective: delivering excellence through disciplined operations, high-performing teams and an uncompromising owner experience.

12 | WATERLINE April 2026 MARINAS26 There are very few people who can stand before a room of marina operators, engineers, and investors and make them genuinely excited about the decade ahead. Gihan Perera is one of them. A business futurist, AI researcher, and author with more than 30 years of experience working with organisations across Australia and the world, Perera has built a reputation for translating complex, fast-moving technology trends into ideas that feel urgent, navigable, and deeply relevant to the people in the room. At Marinas26, delegates will have the opportunity to hear from him not once, but twice, first as the closing keynote speaker on Day 1, and then as chair of the conference's dedicated AI Practical Applications for Marinas panel session on Day 2. Together, the two appearances live cohesively alongside the Marinas26 theme ‘Future Smart’: from the big picture of where technology is taking the world, to the practical question of what marina businesses should actually do about it right now. Perera's credentials are formidable. He was recognised in 2025 as one of the Top 30 Global Futurists, and Forbes has rated him the number one social media influencer in Australia in his field. He is a Certified Speaking Professional and was named Educator of the Year by Professional Speakers Australia in 2024. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Western Australia, where his thesis, written more than three decades ago, was on artificial intelligence. That early curiosity has never left him. He went on to found one of Australia's first web development companies in 1996, led teams building infrastructure for the early internet, and has spent the years since helping business leaders make sense of the disruption that followed. On the afternoon of Monday 25 May, Perera will close Day 1 of Marinas26 with a keynote titled The AI Future in Marinas & Boatyards. Speaking to a cross-section of 400 to 450 delegates — owners, investors, general managers, and technical staff from across Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and the Middle East, he will offer a futurist's perspective on the convergence of artificial intelligence, data analytics, automation, and the Internet of Things across the marina sector. Perera will explore how data is becoming the marina industry's most valuable strategic asset, how smart energy systems and connected infrastructure are changing the economics of facility management, and how customer expectations are shifting in ways that marinas can no longer afford to ignore. He will look at what other sectors, aviation, hospitality, logistics, have already learned about AI-led transformation, and what the marina industry can take from those experiences. Crucially, the keynote is not designed to overwhelm. Delegates will leave with a simple framework they can apply to their own business when thinking about AI, data, and automation, as well as the confidence that these changes are manageable and that early movers will hold a genuine competitive advantage. The following morning, Perera returns as chair of the AI: Practical Applications for Marinas session, that deliberately shifts the conversation from the strategic to the operational. Where Day 1 asks delegates to think about where the industry is heading, Day 2 asks: what do we do about it on Monday morning? Four expert practitioners will present real-world case studies and insights. James Roy CMM, Marina Manager at One°15 Marina Sentosa Cove, will examine the data streams flowing through a modern facility and operational improvements that data could bring and what is missing. Tevz Grogl will reveal the AI development roadmap underway at Marina Master, one of the industry's most widely used management platforms. Ben Shand of Inspectahire will show how predictive maintenance technology is already transforming industries such as mining and maritime, and how it can extend asset life and reduce costly failures in the marine environment. And Kristina Augustin of Southern Sky AI will take delegates through the operational changes marina businesses can implement right now, from resource scheduling and workforce productivity to back-office automation. Whether you arrive at Marinas26 already deep into your AI journey or still working out where to begin, there is something in these sessions worth sitting with, and probably more value again in the conversations they spark afterwards. Perera brings a rare combination of global perspective and genuine curiosity about the people in the room, and that tends to make the discussion as useful as the content itself. The industry is changing; that much is certain. What it looks like on the other side is still, to a meaningful extent, up to the people willing to engage seriously with the question. Marinas26 takes place 25–26 May 2026. Session information and registration available at marinas26.com AHEAD OF THE CURVE Global futurist Gihan Perera takes the stage at Marinas26, to challenge the industry to think bigger, move faster, and lead with confidence into an AI-shaped future.

April 2026 WATERLINE | 13 MARINAS26 INVEST GOLD COAST PARTNERS WITH MARINAS26 TO SUPPORT DELEGATE ACCESS TO SANCTUARY COVE INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW SMART INNOVATORS & START-UP SHOWCASE Five forward-thinking companies will take the stage at the Smart Innovators and Start-Up Showcase on Tuesday 26 May, as part of the Marinas26 conference at Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast. Here’s a preview of who to watch. HARBR - AI-POWERED MARINA MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE Queensland-based start-up Harbr has built a marina management platform with AI at its core from day one, rather than bolted on as an afterthought. Described by its developer as a ‘marina manager copilot’, Harbr’s AI layer assists staff with administrative tasks, customer communications and operational insights. The platform covers berth and vessel management, invoicing, payments and data tracking in a single unified interface. Built in partnership with Australian marina managers, Harbr is currently onboarding its first Queensland marinas ahead of a go-live in April 2026. The company also donates 1% of all subscription revenue to environmental charities. REEFFLOAT THE FOAM-FREE, RECYCLABLE CONCRETE MARINA FLOAT This UK start-up, founded by Toby Budd, who also invented the ScaffFloat pontoon system — has developed a marina float using ultra-low-density foamed concrete for buoyancy, encased in a highstrength engineered concrete skin. The result is stronger and longerlasting than EPS foam floats, fully inert in the marine environment and 100% recyclable at end of life. Unlike conventional floats, which are classified as hazardous waste in the UK, a spent ReefFloat can simply be crushed and repurposed as aggregate. Full concrete pontoons for leisure and commercial use are available from 2026. SOUTHERN SKY AI STRUCTURED AI ADOPTION FOR MARITIME LEADERS Founded in October 2024 by Kristina Agustin — a lawyer, superyacht management veteran and 2026 ATSE Elevate Scholar — Southern Sky AI offers marina and maritime operators a structured pathway to responsible AI adoption. Rather than selling software, the practice assesses an organisation’s needs and the opportunity for The Marinas26 International Conference and Trade Exhibition (Marinas26) welcomes Invest Gold Coast as an event partner, reinforcing the Gold Coast’s position as Australia’s leading destination for the marine and marina industry. Invest Gold Coast will support a scheduled shuttle service for Marinas26 delegates between the Marinas26 venue, Royal Pines Resort and the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS) on Friday 22 May, Saturday 23 May and Sunday 24 May 2026. The Invest Gold Coast SCIBS Shuttle will enable delegates to conveniently experience one of the world’s premier marine events ahead of attending Marinas26. Mark Girard, Invest Gold Coast Chief Executive, said the partnership reflected the organisation’s commitment to supporting Gold Coast marina businesses and high-value industry events like Marinas26 and the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show that align with the city’s economic strengths and its key sectors. “The Gold Coast is Australia’s fastest growing city and home to the nation’s largest concentration of marine businesses,” Mr Girard said. “Partnering with Marinas26 and facilitating delegate access to the boat show allows us to showcase the depth, capability and global relevance of our marine sector and support what is a $1.2 billion and Ai integration and guides it through a sequenced framework: a Compass AI Blueprint readiness assessment, ongoing Navigator guidance, and a Command execution layer that builds purpose-built internal tools under human-in-the-loop principles. With no equivalent practice currently operating in the Australian marina sector, Southern Sky AI aims to prevent the governance gaps and tool sprawl that can emerge from unguided AI implementation. METARINA PREDICTIVE RISK INTELLIGENCE FOR MARINA OPERATIONS What happens when a vessel arrives with an insurance certificate that doesn’t cover its actual length? Usually, nobody finds out until after the incident. Metarina’s Predictive Risk Intelligence Engine changes that. The AI system reads vessel documentation — insurance certificates, maintenance logs, customs declarations — in any language or format, extracts structured compliance data and flags risk indicators before a vessel even arrives. Named Scale-up of the Year at the Smart Marina Rendezvous Monaco 2025 and backed by EU and German Federal research funding, Metarina is already operational across the Balearics, Sardinia and Indonesia. The company is now targeting the Australian market as its next expansion horizon. MARINE FUTURES - AUSTRALIA’S MARINE INDUSTRY JOBS PLATFORM Finding the right people is one of the biggest challenges facing the marine industry — and Marine Futures was built to solve it. The Australian-developed platform connects job seekers, employers, recruiters and migration specialists across the marine sector, streamlining the search for skilled talent in a specialised industry. Job seekers can upload their resume and let the platform’s matching technology surface relevant opportunities across an ecosystem of marine industry job boards, while employers gain access to targeted recruitment and talent search tools. Part of the Work Intiatives ecosystem, Marine Futures is purpose-built for the sector, replacing generic job boards with a channel designed specifically for marine trades, maritime operations, boatbuilding and beyond. The Smart Innovators and Start-Up Showcase takes place on Tuesday 26 May. For full program details and registration visit marinas26.com growing industry for the Gold Coast.” Invest Gold Coast is the City of Gold Coast’s dedicated investment and economic development agency, established to facilitate growth and attract investment into the city across key sectors, including marine, advanced manufacturing, and tourism. The Gold Coast’s marine industry includes more than 500 businesses employing over 5,000 skilled trades, many of which are based at marinas, rely on marina infrastructure to operate, or use marinas as platforms to showcase products and services to domestic and international markets. MIA CEO Suzanne Davies said the partnership would significantly enhance the delegate experience. “The proximity of Marinas26 to the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show is a unique advantage,” Ms Davies said. “Having Invest Gold Coast support a dedicated shuttle service makes it easier for delegates to engage with the broader marine industry while they’re on the Gold Coast.
