Abide Master Plan
Educational Frameworks and the ABIDE Spiritual Master Plan The ABIDE Spiritual Master Plan aligns with current research in education and wellbeing and is supported by key Adventist Schools Australia frameworks that guide our journey as Adventist Schools. Two frameworks in particular are important to consider when developing a Spiritual Master Plan as they inform our purpose and practice as Adventist schools: 1. Community of Faith and Learning This framework articulates the distinctive characteristics of an Adventist school community, often referred to as Adventist Identity. Three domains represent our relationship with God, to others, and to learning in an Adventist school: belonging, believing and becoming. 2. Quality Adventist Schools Framework Based on best practice, the QAS framework provides a structure for schools to engage in reviewing and strengthening their culture through meaningful professional conversations and shared strategic goals. The QAS is comprised of four domains: Adventist Identity, Learning and Teaching, Leading School Improvement, and Partnerships. 17 Educators in Adventist Schools ABIDE in Christ in all aspects of their profession. The Adventist Identity Teaching Standards supplement the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, and Principals, providing scope for professional conversations and practices to include Adventist Identity. Finally, the importance of educating the whole child, a precept flagged by Ellen White over a hundred years ago and embraced by Adventist educators, is also echoed in key statements found in the: • Melbourne Declaration on Educational Goals for Young Australians (2008), • Review to Achieve Excellence in Australian Schools (2018), and • OECD Learning Framework 2030.
