falling completely and becomes
Darth Caedus. He lifts the Sith
Empire up and they take over half
of the galaxy again. But as I said,
I’m not sure how it is going to pan
out...
I was really excited when I heard
the news that Disney would be
doing the next series after being
burnt by the last ones. I mean it’s
Disney, they don’t make bad mov-
ies... other than Frozen - that was
terrible! (laughing)
What will you be wearing to the
cinema on opening night?
Well I bought a new Jedi outfit
for a fancy dress party at the start
of this year but it arrived late so I
shaved my head into a Mohawk
and went as Mr T instead! So I will
be unveiling my brand new Mace
Windu Jedi outfit on the night!
Star Wars merchandise has out-
sold movie takings by a huge
margin. How much gear do you
have and what is your favourite
piece?
Well... it is all pretty awesome or
otherwise I wouldn’t have bought
it. I guess my Boba Fett Helmet
would be up there... I have two
Millenium Falcons in different
sizes...
Not actual size?
No (laughing)... but my other
vehicle is the SLAVE 1!
(Ed- He is not kidding, Leon ac-
tually has these number plates!
The SLAVE 1 is the space craft
belonging to Boba Fett!)
It’s hard to distinguish. It really
is. Anything that I have involving
Boba Fett is pretty good.
Another piece that I especially
like is the Sith Meditation Sphere.
There is a scene in the Empire
Strikes Back on Darth Vader’s
Super Star Destroyer where he
is sitting in it... it’s when you see
him for the first time without his
helmet, you just see the back of
his scarred head for a little instant
before his helmet is resealed. The
Sith Meditation Sphere focuses
the Dark Side of the Force, gives
them more power. It was featured
in the very first comic I bought,
now twenty years ago.
How many times have you seen
each movie?
Hmmm (Laughing)... It is beyond
count. If I need to go to sleep, I
only need a sample of it, it puts
me down! If I am sick, all I need
is the sound of it and I have a full
visual of what’s happening. If I am
watching it and people are talk-
ing, it doesn’t matter, I know every
line and sound! (laughing).
An interesting thing is that there
are a couple of "coined sounds"
from Star Wars that a lot of films
use. Boba Fett’s scream as he falls
into the Zarlac. It’s just a given
in Hollywood that if anyone falls
they will use that scream... It’s
even used in "Titanic". When they
freeze Hahn Solo in carbonite -
that sound is in a lot of movies.
A lot of today’s animated movies
use Star Wars sounds. The amaz-
ing thing about the original sound
effects is that John Williamson
created all of them using an
orchestra, there was no synthetic
noises used back then... light
sabres, laser blasts, every explo-
sion... everything!
Imagine this… George Lucas
asks you to come up with the
story line for the final Star Wars
movie! How would it end? Can
it end?
Well it shouldn’t. The struggle be-
tween good and evil never ends!
You always have to leave it open.
If I was to script the last episode
I would bring in the “Yuuzhan
Vong”. They are a race from
outside the galaxy and every-
thing they make is organic... they
grow it, everything is biological.
They design and grow creatures
that can do any task. Their ships
are made out something called
“Yorik Coral” and they seal them
up with another membrane that
they grow. Their ships are driven
by creatures called “Dovin Basals”
that generate gravity and allow
the ships to fly at warp speed.
I reckon a conflict with them
would be pretty awesome. They
are immune to the Force. They
don’t like technology, we would
be infidels to them (laughing).
Unless we convert they would
stick a creature inside us... They
are one of my favourite back story
characters. There are about fifteen
books in the series that centre
around them.
So how many hours are left
until the premiere... is your clock
counting backwards?
I’m not quite marking off the
calendar but in my head I am...
I know there is twenty days to
go... so what’s that... roughly 480
hours? (laughing)
